Know Your Options
The Strategic Element is one of the Five Martial Elements.
The function of the Strategic Element is to develop awareness, decision making, and good forward planning ability.
Fluency with the Strategic Element ensures that the options and choices available to you at any given moment are well known. This means you know exactly what you can do at any point in time; before, during or after a physical encounter.
Inside The Strategic Element
Just like the other martial elements, the Strategic Element is made up of four components, which are as follows:
- Objectives
- Plans
- Strategies
- Tactics
Together, these four components define the overall goal of any encounter, and map out the various routes to success, at ever-increasing levels of detail. These are shown and briefly explained in the diagram below.
Connections To The Strategic Element
Just like the other martial elements, the Strategic Element is fully connected via the Creative Relationships and the Control Relationships that exist within the system. Thus, the strengths & weakness within this element will colour and influence the others.
The four relationship pairs formed by these connections are:
- Strategy creates Theory
- Strategy controls Technical
- Strategy is created by Physical
- Strategy is controlled by Practical
