From Flow To Reaction
The 6th Student Grade (abbreviated to 6SG) is the last of three grades which together make up the Basic Stage of the FWTS Training Programme.
The purpose of the 6SG programme is to round-off the whole body of skills & knowledge within this second stage of training. It marks the half-way point of the apprentice level which, for comparison, is effectively half-way to black-belt or black-sash status in the art.
In this grade you’ll complete your Chum-Kiu Form, complete the Siu-Nim-Tao Chi-Sao programmes, and complete all the basic ways of applying your primary and secondary strategies. You’ll start controlling the space, and really seeing the many opportunities to strike, if you so choose.
6SG also marks the start of Reaction Drills. Now that you know how to move correctly, it’s time to start developing these movements into rapid, effective reactions which work under pressure. Go for it!
